I characterize healing as the deliberate course of reflecting on past trauma and struggles to situate oneself truly, mentally, and spiritually to address difficulties in day-to-day existence, particularly those welcomed on by differing types of mistreatment. Recognize that there isn't anything wrong with you, because feelings are not facts. They are not necessarily based on truth, feelings are impulses, imprints of our individual beliefs, thoughts, and perspectives which again, are not entirely fact-based.

In today's society, we face constant trauma on a physical, mental, and spiritual level, but despite that trauma, we never make time to seek out healing and peace. Our constant function is “survival mode” because of the obstacles we face in society. But why is it that those obstacles make healing so hard?

Because it requires work, challenging, sometimes grueling work that may even involve risk. Changes can happen some to the point that even break relationships or shift how your daily functioning is. Ultimately, it demands us to take those chances in order to level up, lean in, and sometimes battle until we break through to the other side of our inner pain and emotions.

What does healing look like?

Our bodies, minds, and spirits become lighter and lifted. When we undergo healing, we are more equipped to help others heal since we are going through the process. Our speech shifts from places of pain to destinations filled with love and light.

Important thought

To heal, it’s important to accept and acknowledge where you are, and how far you've come. If you are willing to engage your life, the situation, and all the walls, barriers, and coping skills you’ve adopted, healing can absolutely be yours.
